While watching the movie “Pan’s Labyrinth” I found myself rendered completely speechless except for the few horrified screams and the many silent whispers of absolute adoration.
This movie creates a world full of magic, childhood, war, horror, love, and sacrifice.
Set in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), the story traces the destiny of an innocent girl in a world full of man-made evil. Uprooted from her quiet city life with her mother, Ofilia moves to live out in the rural countryside in a military outpost run by her mother's new husband. The Old Mill he is using is over run by armed men, set out to capture and kill a local band of guerillas , and her cruel stepfather goes about his job with zealous intent.
Ofilia soon finds herself trapped in a world underlined by cruelty and helpless to do anything about what is happening around her as she faces evil both otherworldly and human.
She’s spent her short years reading fairy tales and learning myths, so when she is approached by a real-live fairy, she naturally follows it to wherever it will take her. She is lead into the stone maze that’s has been around the Old Mill for as long as anyone can remember and the garden labyrinth will become her dark haven from sorrow and loneliness.
When she is lead to it’s center, she is greeted by an teasing and inscrutable faun named Pan. He tells her that she is the reincarnation of the Princess of the Underworld and it is his task to lead her back to her father’s side in the world below.
She is given three tasks that she must complete before the full moon to prove that she is not as mortal as the rest, and when they are done, she will be able to join the King of the Underworld in her true home.
What follows is a horrifyingly gruesome account of a Civil War and a young girl’s fate that was written long before her birth.
I HIGHLY recommend seeing this movie that is now in theaters or renting it when it comes out on DVD. Rate R for gore and horrifying realistic and fantasy images, seeing this movie will NOT be a waste.

I watched it in my spanish class, just gonna say one thing... I FREAKIN`LOVED IT, especially the Faun, I tough he looked cozy and nice, but I am a weird one, so it is just normal for me, but if you have not watched the movie, go watch it, you will not regret it
